Citing information from three individuals with knowledge of the situation, the news outlet reported that the reasons behind the administration's refusal to advance the nomination of Army Lt. Gen. Richard Angle remain uncertain.
Angle, a long-serving special operations officer, had backing from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, as confirmed by one senior intelligence source and two former top national security officials, the news outlet stated.
Back in April, NSA leader Air Force Gen. Timothy Haugh and his deputy Wendy Noble were dismissed, prompting harsh backlash from Democratic lawmakers in Congress.
