Philippines Rushes to Repatriate Filipinos from Israel

(MENAFN) The Philippines has announced plans to bring home a minimum of 178 of its citizens currently working in Israel, after they sought evacuation assistance due to the rapidly intensifying hostilities between Israel and Iran, the country’s Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) revealed on Thursday.

During a press briefing, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Cacdac shared that the agency is also providing aid to 14 Filipino nationals based in Iran, as well as three in Jordan, one in Iraq, and another who traveled to Iraq from Dubai.

Cacdac further noted that the DMW stepped in to support 58 Filipino laborers who had been left stranded at airports in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Current estimates from the Department of Foreign Affairs indicate that around 30,742 Filipino citizens are residing in Israel, while approximately 1,180 are in Iran.
