Gas Leak Blast in Tokyo Injures Ten, Rocks Nearby Buildings

(MENAFN) Ten individuals sustained injuries on Tuesday after an explosion rocked a construction site in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, according to reports from a news outlet.

The incident occurred when a maintenance vehicle ignited, reportedly due to a gas leak from a ruptured pipe that was damaged during ongoing construction activities, the news agency stated.

Emergency services received calls at approximately 9:35 a.m. local time (0035 GMT), following eyewitness accounts of a loud explosion.

The force of the blast blew out windows and damaged metal shutters on surrounding buildings, while thick smoke engulfed the vicinity.

Most of the injured were construction workers and nearby residents, who suffered minor wounds. Several individuals also experienced throat irritation due to smoke inhalation.
