China Accuses Taiwan’s DPP of Supporting Cyberattacks Targeting Tech Company
(MENAFN) Chinese officials on Tuesday leveled allegations against Taiwan's ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), accusing it of supporting a hacker group responsible for cyberattacks targeting a technology company in Guangzhou, Guangdong province’s capital, according to state media.
The Tianhe District Branch of the Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau stated that the DPP-backed hacker group launched these cyberattacks last week, as reported by a news agency.
Authorities in China claimed that over recent years, this group has exploited publicly available internet asset scanning tools to assault more than 1,000 critical network systems across over ten provinces and regions on the mainland.
"Especially since 2024, the scale and frequency of this hacker group's attacks against targets within the mainland have significantly increased, with clear intentions of disruption and sabotage, reflecting extremely malicious intent," Chinese police asserted.
The Tianhe District Branch indicated it has informed relevant national agencies about the situation and confirmed that investigations are ongoing. They vowed to hold accountable both the criminal organizations involved and their key orchestrators.
Taiwan has yet to respond to the accusations made by Chinese authorities.
