North Korea Criticizes U.S. ‘Golden Dome’
In a statement released by its Foreign Ministry, North Korea criticized the American government, alleging that the initiative is designed to undermine the strategic balance of nuclear-armed nations that are perceived as adversaries by the United States.
According to a news agency, Pyongyang believes the plan serves to expand the offensive capabilities of U.S. military forces.
The Foreign Ministry stated, “The U.S., which defined outer space as a battlefield in future in its early years, has been hell-bent on the moves to militarize outer space, claiming that those who dominate outer space can win victory in the future war.”
This accusation underscores North Korea’s belief that the U.S. is intensifying its efforts to use outer space for military operations.
The ministry continued its criticism by asserting that the U.S.'s intention to develop a new missile shield is a fundamental factor triggering a worldwide escalation in nuclear and space-based armament.
This approach, according to Pyongyang, heightens the sense of vulnerability among nuclear-armed countries and contributes to transforming space into a potential battleground.
North Korea further claimed that the true purpose behind the U.S. initiative is to gain overarching military dominance under the pretext of defending the homeland.
“It is to preemptively attain military superiority in an all-round way by justifying its hegemony-oriented moves for a space arms buildup and accelerating outer space militarization behind the screen of ‘mainland defense’ and to launch the military strike at its enemy states at its will by relying on it,” the ministry said.
It emphasized that this ambition represents the strategic military objective of the U.S. and the primary intent of the “Golden Dome” initiative, which the current administration is prioritizing.
President Trump recently confirmed that he had finalized the “architecture” for the long-promised “Golden Dome” system.
He projected that the program would require an investment of USD175 billion over the next three years to become operational.
